Much like our IA Planters the Venturi Planters are self-watering and utilize aeration as well, but they use a different method to bring air to the roots. As the water decreases in the self-watering chamber it creates a vacuum, pulling fresh air around the perforated soil chamber. An Air hose and pump can also be used if preferred.
Here at Dirty Girl Organics we know how important aeration is to plants. That's why we developed our Plant Spikes. These were designed to supply air to the roots of plants that are in existing planters. The spikes are filled with layers of mini clay balls to hold moisture and activated charcoal to help eliminate toxins lurking in the soil. One end of an air hose is inserted into the Air Spike and the other into the pump outlet. Then the spike is pushed into the soil about 1 to 2 inches from the plant stem supplying it with fresh air right to the roots.
